Shrimp Tacos

I really need a Mexican food dictionary.  Can someone tell me what is the difference between Soft-Shell Tacos and Fajitas? And are tortillas separate or just a vessel for eating tacos/fajitas?

Anyway, until I get an explanation I call these tajitos- a taco and fajita hybrid.

Shrimp Tacos 

1 tbsp Cumin

½ tbsp Ginger

½ tbsp Chili Powder

1 tsp cayenne

½ tbsp. Garlic Powder

2 tbsp Olive Oil

~5-6 Shrimp per person


  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
  2. Combine the sauces
  3. Place the shrimp in a large plastic bag
  4. Add oil and spice mix
  5. Shake the bag until the shrimp are coated evenly
  6. Lay the shrimp out evenly on a baking dish
  7. Cook the shrimp for 5 minutes or until pink


Cabbage Slaw

¼ Red Cabbage

1 Grapefruit

1 Avocado

2 tbsp avocado oil

1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

1 tsp Salt


  1. Thinly Slice the Avocado
  2. Supreme the Grapefruit (Martha Stewart has a great how-to here)
  3. Dice the avocado
  4. Toss the Cabbage in oil, vinegar and salt
  5. Add the grapefruit and avocado
